If You Can't Do Box Art Yourself, Let GAF Do It.

As we have already covered, most game companies don't know how to do box art.

Enter GAF.

For the uninitiated, NEOGAF is the biggest, and some would say the most important, gaming forum on the web. Developers often frequent it and Dyack and Jaffe have been known to throw down with the community on there.

They recently ran some kind of art project where they took the Criterion approach to box art (classy and artistic) and mocked up some game box arts.

The results are pretty fucking stunning.

  1. Some of those are beautiful. You still can't beat buying BOXED games. It would be nice if they took a slightly classier approach in the future, hopefully before D2D stuff ruins it all. I still miss the big f-off cardboard ones for PC - but I guess we're all about saving trees and shit now.

  2. I think the apreciation of art is something missed on game boxes often. I know you only really see them from the side 90% of the time, but you don't want to have to hide the box when someone comes in the room so their eyes don't bleed.

Box art needs a nice dose of class
